Jyelah's Story

sharing of 'Mob and connection to Country. Wiradjuri & Ngiyampaa Country'

Our family spirituality certainly shows in all our relationships, as we have connection within.

Throughout my creation over time for Jyelah, I had a duty to create a unique piece of artwork that represents perfection and to symbolise your baby girl, Jyelah, on Country.

Three Rivers Connecting Us Together

the name 'Wiradjuri' means, 'the people of three rivers'

Wiradjuri people are originally from the land that is bordered by the Lachlan, Murrumbidgee and Macquarie Rivers, NSW.

The three rivers is our livelihood and supplies a variety of consistent and abundant food provisions, including shellfish and fish, such as the Murray Cod.

In dry season, the food from the rivers was supplemented with Kangaroos and Emus hunted for their meats, as well as fresh food gathered from the land between the rivers.

Rain On Country

to refresh and revitalise our Country

My artwork represents 'Rain on Country' when we had much water flowing all throughout the wet season, leaving our water lying in many waterholes and creeks. Sending water along other Bila's (Rivers) to freshen and revitalise our Country.
